Maine Activities
 For the outdoor enthusiast the Maine Highlands and the Moosehead
Lake region offer many activities. Hiking, canoeing, river walks,
whitewater rafting, moose tours, boat tours, float plane rides, dog
sled tours, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing and some
the best snowmobiling in the east are all available in the area.
Local clubs maintain snowmobile trails with connections to the
Interconnected Trail System (ITS85).
The Maine Highlands is a sportsman's paradise known for its many
lakes, ponds, rivers and streams which offer fishing opportunities
for both cold water species such as brook trout, splake, togue (lake
trout) and landlock salmon as well as warm water species like white
perch and small mouth bass. The area is also well known for its
abundant wildlife offering the hunter opportunities for deer, bear,
moose, turkey and grouse.
